FIVE individuals died after they were trapped inside a bunkhouse in Poblacion, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental when a fire broke out Friday dawn.
Police Chief Inspector Ariel Nueva, Police Community Relations (PCR) officer of the Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office (PPO), said that the fire was reported at 2:30 on December 22, at the bunkhouse owned by a certain Juliet Lim located at the back of Davao Central Convenience in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.
Firefighters were from Banaybanay Municipal Station and Lupon Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The five, one male and four female, were all workers of the Petron gasoline station nearby. The identities of the five were not yet released.
Faulty wiring was said to be the cause of the incident but fire investigators are still conducting thorough probe on the incident.
