LAWYER Archie Baribar, spokesperson of the pro-Duterte group Kilusang Pagbabago (KP) Negros, said on Tuesday, June 6, that they don’t charge people who wish to join their group formed by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco in 2016 to help the President realize his anti-poverty program.
He said they have discovered recently that certain individuals or groups are selling application forms from P70 to P150 and even lured others to pay more from P3,000 to P4,000 with a promise to bring them to Manila to see the President in person and get livelihood assistance and a house.
“This is a scam in the name of change. We will not tolerate this illegal act,” said Baribar, adding that their service is for free.
“This is a social movement inspired by Digong which was apparently being used by opportunists as a milking cow now,” said the former Bacolod councilor.
He warned those who engaged in this scam to cease from fooling people as they will take appropriate action against them.
“If we get the names of those who use the organization in bad faith, we will report them to the President’s hotline 8888 which will surely get results,” he said.
Baribar issued Memorandum Order 2017-01 addressed to all KP barangay, municipal and city focal persons relative to the policy on the conduct of KP focal persons and mass members specifying the no collection, no association, no distraction, and always attraction policy of their organization.
"No one is authorized to collect any fee for application forms, ID card, membership or for any KP activity from anyone. We are here to expand the Duterte forces," he added.
