Batang Pinoy-bound volleyball selection

SELECTED players from semifinalists of the recent Davao City Batang Pinoy volleyball eliminations will form part of the team that will compete in the national championships in Tagum City.

Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) regional director Engineer D'Artagnan "Daks" Yambao in a phone interview with VoxPop Davao said on Wednesday, November 23, they chose majority of the players from the winning team and took some of the best players from other teams.

He also designated winning coaches to mentor the city's BatangPinoy teams.

The boys team is composed of Jose Maria College (JMC) players Jimuel Guial, Rex Paller, Journee Cataag, Francis Gabriel Guiterrez, Joma Jalan Crisostomo, Christopher Estose, Edndeyl Joshua Tizo, and John Paul Espino.

Joining the team are Jaycon Adeva and Dux Euan Yambao of University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC), Nathaniel Chris Hipolito of Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), and Jheuel Nuñez of Davao City National High School with JMC's Ron Mirasol as coach.

Mirasol, in a separate interview, said they need to adjust from the new members though they were very cooperative and dedicated to train.

"Kailangan parin nilang team work kasi galing pa sila sa iba-ibang schools pero expect na may laban tayo para sa Batang Pinoy," he said.

Playing in the distaff side are Razzel May Belarmino, Thea Mariz Borres, Sheena Mae Espina, Coline Theah Herbes, Althenna Bea Maneja, Rose Marie Openiano, Nicole Victoria Sasuman and Alex Unilongo of DCNHS, Takako Fujimoto, Jyril Kaye Mosikito and Henrikke Hannah Pikar of ADDU and Lycha Ebon of University of Mindanao with Cristy Balbon of DCNHS as a coach.
