ANOTHER drug personality of Bayawan City Police Station in Negros Occidental was killed in a shootout after he resisted arrest during a drug-bust at Barangay Tinago on Thursday, September 8.
Police identified the fatality as Ramil "Tata" Gracias, of Barangay Poblacion.
Superintendent Melchor Agustin, city police chief, said Gracias sold shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent for P500. Then Gracias armed with a .38 caliber attempted to fire at the operatives, but he was shot instead.
Gracias sustained three gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Agustin said Gracias surrendered to the police last July but chose to continue his illegal drug activity based on police monitoring.
Police recovered from Gracias's possession five sachets of suspected shabu, the P500 marked money, a .38 caliber with two live ammunition, a. 357 caliber revolver with six live ammunition, two bullets of .45 caliber and .9mm caliber, two slugs of .9mm caliber, and .45 caliber, bolo and a wooden club with spike.
Agustin said Gracias was the third drug suspect killed in police operations in the city.
In another development, Jay Pulta, 30, of Purok 5, Barangay Mampas, Valencia, Negros Oriental was arrested after he yielded a sachet of shabu and the P500 marked money on September 8.
Over at Negros Occidental, three suspects were collared by police in a drug bust at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City Friday, September 9.
