TIMED for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw celebration, SM Cinema and Disney have partnered to bring in the much-awaited live-action retelling of Disney's animated classic Beauty and the Beast for advance screening on IMax 3D at SM Lanang Premier last March 14.
It was indeed a treat to Dabawenyos to watch the remake of the 1991 animated musical ahead of other Disney fans in the country. At the same time, a special screening was also held at SM Seaside in Cebu City.
"For the first time, SM Cinema holds an advance screening of Disney movie in Davao City....and we are looking forward to more partnership with (the studio) in the future," said Aron Dalaza, SM City Davao and SM Lanang Premier Group Marketing manager.
The movie tells about the fantastic journey of Belle, a smart, book-loving, beautiful and independent young woman taken prisoner by a beast in his castle.
Emma Watson plays Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast and the Prince.
The fairy-tale surely makes you nostalgic as you are transported to the castle along with Belle's adventure.
"Last night's Beauty and the Beast movie made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Like it took me back to Betamax and VHS days. I was a Disney princess again," Apple Legario, SM City PR manager, said in her Faceook post.
You will also fall in love with the castle's enchanted staff befriended by Belle as she learns to realize Beast's kind heart and soul of the true Prince.
In fact, one of the highlights of the movie is the "Be Our Guest" scene which has a spectacular production voiced by your favorite actors Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock, and Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Along with Watson and Stevens in the movie are Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome villager who woos Belle, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle's lovable father, and Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston's long-suffering aide-de-camp. The remake, now on its regular screening in city theaters, is directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon.
