AS THE San Miguel Beerman and Talk N' Text play Game 1 of their 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven championship series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tonight, basketball fans look ahead to who will go home with the title.
Manila-based sportswriter Snow Badua of Spin.ph picked the Beermen to dominate behind its big armies and enough firepower on all fronts.
"They are also aiming for another grand slam," he said.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) head coach Kristian Lord Coquilla, will also go for the Beermen who he said have vast championship experience.
"Talk N' Text import (Josh Smith) has an injury which will be a great advantage for SMB. However, TNT will take a long time to adjust if they will replace their import,” the multi-titled coach said.
Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) head coach Isaias Gravador, said his pick will go to SMB considering TNT's unhealthy import.
"The question here is Smith still healthy? Will he play 100 percent or will he be replaced?," Gravador said.
Former Philippine Womens College (PWC) college basketball varsity Timothy Jan "TJ" Ramirez also said SMB has the advantage.
"Chriss Ross would be vital as always with his defense and energy that sets the tone for the Beerman. SMB also has high-percentage shooters that could connect beyond the arc," Ramirez said.
PWC High School basketball head coach Laurence "Butch" Bencio, however, said Talk N' Text looks hungrier for the title.
"Jason Castro's playmaking ability is an edge. If he will get his teammates involve, they will win the title," Bencio said.
