Bercede wants V-hire access to CSBT

PROVINCIAL Board (PB) Member Glenn Bercede is pushing for the Cebu South Bus Terminal to provide parking slots for vans-for-hire (V-hire) inside the facility.

Bercede, in a resolution, said that this would address inconvenience among Cebu’s south-bound commuters.

At present, the terminal only accommodates buses and mini-buses, while V-hires are using a space at the South Road Properties near SM Seaside Cebu as a temporary terminal.

“The move to allocate slots for the V-hire at the terminal is much beneficial to the riding public as it would cut the possible cost for taxi fare, evade the traffic in going to the (V-hire) terminal and would widen the preference of the riding public to choose,” said Bercede of his proposed resolution.

Bercede was prompted to file the resolution after a group of commuters reportedly approached his office asking for help on the possibility of giving access for V-hires at the CSBT.

Krizzy Hyll Retuya, Bercede’s chief of staff, said that there will be a meeting with the CSBT management and stakeholders to discuss the proposal.

“There is a high chance that the V-hire will get slots in CSBT, but we are still finalizing the guidelines,” said Retuya.

The request would also need the approval of CSBT operations manager Alberto Herrera through Gov. Hilario Davide III. Apple Grace C. Danuco, USJ-R Intern
