THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Mandaue in partnership with the Mandaue City Government and other agencies conducted a multi-fire incident drill in two villages as part of their preparation for the New Year's celebration.

Mandaue Fire Marshal Josephus Alburo said they want to prepare and properly respond to emergencies in case the multiple fire incidents in Mandaue will be repeated.

Last January 1 this year, a warehouse in Barangay Looc and two residential areas in Barangays Maguikay and Guizo were hit by fire.

Earlier today, members of the BFP, Mandaue Command Center, barangay fire brigades and fire volunteers held the multi-fire incident drill in Barangays Paknaan and Subangdaku.

Alburo pointed out that one of their problems during the drill is the signal of the communication radio which make it hard for them to relay messages in responding to the fire site.

Alburo said there was no direct line of the Visayan Electric Company which they can request to immediately cut the power line.

Despite the problems encountered, BFP still recorded a positive result for there was proper coordination and proper positioning of fire responders. (FMG/VoxPop Cebu)
