ARAYAT - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police discovered what has been branded as the biggest shabu laboratory in the country at the foot of Mt. Arayat in Barangay San Juan Baño yesterday afternoon.
The shabu factory, which is the second to be uncovered in the province in the span of two weeks, is disguised as a piggery and corn crasher registered to a certain Chinese-national, said PDEA Central Luzon Information Officer Glen Guillermo.
He disclosed that the Municipal Government of Arayat and Bureau of Fire Protection were about to conduct fire safety and sanitary inspection at the establishment, but were surprised that it was abandoned.
The raiding team immediately inspected the suspected clandestine laboratory which is surrounded by an eight to ten feet of concrete fence, with a hog farm and melting plant of plastics beside it.
Guillermo said that a combustion tower set up, one yellow motor diesel generator, one blue industrial chiller, one set of power controllers, seven industrial distillation set up and one reaction mixer were found inside the laboratory which can reportedly manufacture some 50 to 100 kilograms of shabu per cycle.
He added that the laboratory looked unused and had just recently been set up.
Located only around five kilometers from the first shabu lab discovered in Magalang town recently, PDEA Director Emerson Margate said drug the factory is large scale and is considered the biggest discovered in the country so far.
