EARLY favorites Rolando Simacion, John Carl Aunso, Niel Sebastian Enoc and Queen Peralta clinched titles in the 13th Acas Palero Moulic (APM) Blitz Chess Tournament held at the Market Basket in Damosa, Lanang, Davao City Sunday, April 9.
Simacion earned a total of 5.5 points in the six-round Swiss System Format chessfest to clinch the Rapid Open 1950 class and the P2,500 champion purse over five-pointers Jojimar Tomang and Marcelo Lagura who placed second and third, respectively.
Tomang pocketed P1,000 while Lagura received P500.
Aunso, for his part, tallied 4.5 points to rule the Blitz Open 1950 title over four-pointers Danilo Geverola and John Raymond Vistal who took the two places.
Aunso received P700 and a medal while the next two placers claimed P400 and P300.
Enoc, meanwhile, secured the Rapid Kiddies under-14 title as he made 5.5 points, outclassing David Patrick Belisario (5.0) and March Lawrence Unday (4.0).
Peralta, however, crowned herself champion in the Blitz Kiddies under-14, edging fellow four-pointer Enoc via superior tiebreaks.
Belisario, meanwhile, placed third in the event sponsored by Jubrealle88 Fashion Bags.
Peralta went home with P250 and a medal while Enoc and Belisario had P150 and P100, respectively.
