Blood council recognizes top 10 Zamboanga villages

THE Zamboanga City Blood Council has recognized the top 10 villages that collected the highest units of blood through mobile blood donation activities from July 2016 to July 2017.

Afforded recognition were Pasonanca, Labuan, Tulungatung, San Roque, Putik, Sta. Maria, Manicahan, Ayala, Baliwasan and Tetuan, according to City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos.

Agbulos saidi the awarding ceremony was held on Thursday, August 31.

The Zamboanga City Blood Council was created by virtue of City Ordinance 336 enacted on August 8, 2008.

The ordinance institutionalizes the provisions of Republic Act 7719 otherwise known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994 and to fully implement DILG Circular No. 96-6 mandating the integration of the voluntary blood donation services and programs into the local financial work plan and budget as an added function of the local health board.

Iturralde said this is the fourth year that the Blood Council in coordination with the Rotary Club of Zamboanga have afforded recognition to deserving villages.
