A BODY of a man was found in a garbage bag tightly sealed with a packaging tape. On him was a message written on bond paper: “Tulisan ko (I’m a robber), DU30.”

The still unidentified man was found dead in Barangay Balud, San Fernando, southern Cebu, Monday dawn.

When investigators opened the bag, they saw a rope tied on his neck. He was also hogtied.

The long-haired man was about 40 to 50 years old, about 5’4” and wore an olive green shirt and black pants.

Chief Inspector Richard Gadingan, the town police chief, said the victim was choked to death by the perpetrators.

No stab or gunshot wounds were initially found on the body, which is still subject for autopsy.

Personnel from a funeral parlor in Carcar City, where the body was brought, said the body was not yet in the advanced stage of decomposition. The victim was possibly killed last Sunday afternoon or late at night.

A concerned citizen reported to the police station about the body at 4 a.m.

Gadingan, in a phone interview, believes the victim was killed somewhere else and was just dumped on the roadside in Balud.

“Mingaw nang dapita (It’s a quiet place),” he said.

His investigators are interviewing residents if they noticed a vehicle that passed by the area and may have dumped the body.

Gadingan doubts the victim was a robber.
