POLICE said that the bomb scare in six Cebu City public schools and in the office of Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Cebu City along Imus Road is a "false alarm."
On Tuesday morning, July 18, Lahug Elementary School, Zapatera Elementary School, Labangon Elementary School, Don Carlos A. Gothong Memorial National High School, Mabolo Elementary School, City Central Elementary School and the DepEd office reportedly received bomb threats through a phone call.
Classes have been suspended in the said schools.
Cebu City Police Office Joel Doria also said that all the schools and the DepEd office subjected to the bomb threat have been cleared of any explosive device.
City Division Schools Superintendent Bianito Dagatan said they are suspecting that the calls were done by only one person.
Dagatan added that they are now coordinating with the City Hall to trace the caller.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said that it is not necessary to suspend classes despite the alleged bomb threats targeting schools.
Osmeña recommended that all Parent and Teachers Associations form a security group to screen the entry and exit of visitors and monitor students.
Osmeña added that this may be just a prank, but the City will be taking security measures to ensure the safety of the students. (with RTF/JOB/VoxPop Philippines)
