AN EARLY morning bomb scare interrupted the operations of ABS-CBN Bacolod located at Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City on Thursday.
Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., head of Police Station 2, said The Morning Show host Marty Go received a text message from an unidentified sender at about 7 a.m., informing him that a bomb was placed inside a box at the station manager’s office.
Villarias said the text message read, “Mart, sorry pero hindi ko matiis na hindi sabihin kasi baka may matamaan sa inyo ng bombang sasabog sa manager’s office. Baka may mangyari sa inyo (Mart, sorry but I can’t help not to tell you about a bomb that is going to explode at the manager’s office. Something might happen to all of you.)
Villarias said they immediately responded and checked all the offices of the station.
After the police inspection of about 30 minutes, personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard also responded and conducted another check.
Lieutenant Senior Grade Jimmy Oliver Vingno, head of Coast Guard Station-Bacolod, said they deployed a K9 dog, which is well-versed in explosive detection, to thoroughly checked the TV station’s compound.
After an hour of validation, they declared the area negative of any explosive.
This is the second bomb scare in Bacolod this week.
Last Monday, the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos received two calls from an unidentified Tagalog-speaking man who said that bombs were planted in one of the buildings inside the campus, causing disruption in the activities of the university, including the college final examinations.
