Bondoc ‘still undecided’ on 2019 governor post

STO. TOMAS -- Despite the statement made by President Rodrigo Duterte’s party, Fourth District Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc continues to evade questions on his possible candidacy for Pampanga governor in 2019.

Bondoc, who also serves as the Lower House’s Senior Deputy Majority Leader, was recently endorsed by Partido Laban Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) as its “most likely” official candidate for governorship should he run for the position.

In the recent statement of PDP-Laban Central Luzon President Tito Mendiola, he disclosed that Bondoc may be fielded as its gubernatorial bet for the upcoming local elections scheduled May 2019.

Asked for reactions, Bondoc said that running for governor or any other government position, is still far off his mind as he is still focused on performing his duty as representative of his district.

He stressed that his focus is still on echoing the voice of the majority to the Congress and national government, while providing development and alleviating poverty in the province’s fourth district.

“Mas interesado po tayo muna sa ngayon sa pagtatrabaho at pagbigay sa pangangailangan ng ating kadistrito. Ang eleksyon ay malayo pa po, darating din tayo doon at ang Panginoon ang makakasagot kung ano ang nararapat para sa atin,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bondoc still expressed his gratitude to Mendiola and his mother party for considering him as the party’s possible official candidate for the province’s top position.

He stressed that he will continue to explore his options and hear out the voices of the people before he finally decides on his next political step.
