A 56-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a robbery at the residence of an elected official in the province Zamboanga del Norte.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) spokesman Rogelio Alabata said the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, in the village of La Concepcion, Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Alabata identified the victim as Emedio Camelotis, 56, who succumbed to a gunshot wound.

He said Camelotis was discovered, at the back of their residence, dead by his wife, Madelen, 44, a village councilor, who arrived home around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

He said Camelotis' wife noted that seven jalousie blades of the window were detached and the drawers were opened.

The police official said that a government-issued hand held radio was already missing, believed to be taken by the burglars.

Further investigation revealed the victim’s neighbors heard a gunshot and later saw an unidentified man clad in blue t-shirt leaving the house. The man boarded on a waiting motorcycle that fled towards south direction.

Alabata said the suspects have shot Camelotis after the victim noted the house intrusion.

Investigation continues aimed to identify and arrested the suspects, according to Alabata. (VoxPop Philippines)
