A CERES Liner bus conductor was shot dead by an unidentified male passenger along Barangay Zone 2 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental Friday night.
Superintendent Adonis Rosales, chief of Talisay City Police Station, identified the fatality as Christopher Baynosa of Toboso town.
Investigation showed the passenger-suspect, who was reportedly drunk, boarded the bus in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City. The bus was on its way to Bacolod City from San Carlos City.
The assailant was allegedly harassing female passengers, prompting the bus driver and the conductor to reprimand him, Rosales said, quoting one of the passengers.
When the bus reached Barangay Zone 12, the conductor confronted the unruly passenger.
A commotion ensued and the assailant, who was wearing a black jacket and a blue cap, shot Baynosa twice, hitting him on the neck and the forehead.
The armed passenger then ordered the bus driver to open the door so that he can disembark, Rosales said.
The gunman went down, then attempted to return but the bus driver closed the door and drove away.
Baynosa did not reach the hospital alive.
The police recovered from the scene a fired cartridge and a bullet of a suspected .38 caliber revolver.
A hot pursuit operation is ongoing.
