Buy only ICC-certified Christmas lights - DTI

Published on

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao Region reminds consumers once more to buy only Christmas lights certified by the International Code Council (ICC) to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

According to Trade and Industry Davao Regional director Belinda Ambi as per their monthly checking and inspection for establishments selling Christmas lights in the city, all of their inspected establishments for October had been compliant and that their packages have ICC seal certifications.

"For the consumers, we suggest that you look at the packaging of the Christmas lights and make sure there's a certification seal. We would always suggest that consumers go for a little more expensive but certified because safety is paramount especially more so that we have fire cases because what they used in their houses are not certified Christmas lights," she said.

She added no changes had been done for the layout of the ICC seal and what is being used for the previous years is still the same for this year.

Checking and inspection of establishments is being done by DTI monthly without prior notice.
