THE Department of Justice (DOJ) designated a new officer-in-charge of the Cagayan de Oro City Prosecutor's Office (CPO).
Prosecutor Merlynn Uy, erstwhile OIC of the CPO, has been reassigned to the Regional Prosecutors’ Office (RPO) beginning Monday, May 8.
Uy received the DOJ order signed by Secretary Vitaliano Aquirre II at about 4:15 p.m., Monday.
The order was to take effect immediately, Uy said.
Replacing Uy is Prosecutor Abraham Ramos, who was previously assigned as provincial prosecutor of Pangasinan while Uy will report back to RPO as senior assistant regional prosecutor.
“I will report back to my official station and perform my duties as senior assistant regional prosecutor,” Uy said.
Uy said the order did not state any reason for the transfer apart from citing the interest of the service.
“It is the prerogative of the secretary of justice,” Uy added.
Uy was installed as OIC-city prosecutor last August 8, 2016 when she replaced ex-city prosecutor Fidel Macauyag.
Uy said she hopes the new leadership of CPO will do its best in taking the lead of the largest prosecution office in Northern Mindanao.
“Being a chief of office is nothing new to him (Ramos) since he is already a provincial prosecutor of Pangasinan,” Uy said.
“I am just happy I was given the chance to serve the office of the city prosecutor in CDO (Cagayan de Oro),” Uy added.
