BARANGAY councilor Marcial Nismea recorded game-high 30 points to power Calinan District over Agdao District, 77-63, in the resumption of the 2016 Duterte Basketball League 2016 Inter Political District-Barangay Officials held at the Almendras Gym Davao Recreation Center Tuesday, September 20.
Calinan's win came on the heels of beating Bunawan in the opener to improve to a 2-0 win-loss record while Agdao dropped to 0-1.
Nismea's teammate Angelo Nareno added 15 baskets.
Agdao's top scorer was Carlo Godoy who also made 15.
Nismea, in an interview with VoxPop Davao, cited their cooperation and trust as a team.
"Malaking tulong din sa akin 'yung pagiging varsity player ko dati, (Being a varsity player before really helped me a lot)" Nismea said.
Team captain Cañedo, in a separate interview, said they prepared even before the start of the league and told his team to focus since Agdao is a tough contender.
Calinan leaned on the services of Biaw Village Chief Pedrito Cañedo, Aquino Village Chief Garry Cencianos, and Village councilors Mariano Bañados, Marcial Nismea, Roberto Dalmacio, Angelo Nareno, Argie Ruiz, Nestor Pineda, Francis Atay, Timoteo Balicat, Raul Manubi and Ryan Alfar.
Calinan will next clash against Talomo District.
Marilog was still playing Talomo as of Tuesday.
