ROADS at Camp John Hay in Baguio City will be repaired after Congress demanded its rehabilitation last week.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) was ordered to allow developer, Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo) to repair roads within the former military camp.
“We have been willing to repair the roads, it is just that we have not been given the permits to do so by the BCDA,” CJHDevCo senior vice president Sean Bedi said.
Representatives from the BCDA, who were present pledged to facilitate the permits for the long awaited repairs.
Permits from the government is needed for the CJHDevCo to proceed with the rehabilitation but since the dispute with the BCDA began in 2012, no permits were processed for the developer.
The CJHDeVCo lamented a breach in BCDA’s commitment, in which the later would guarantee all permits for John Hay projects through a One-Stop-Action-Center.
The CJH developer alleged, both the BCDA and John Hay Management Corporation refused to act on pending applications for permits, licenses and certificates causing a wholesale cessation of all developmental activity in Camp John Hay.
Congress earlier said investigation will be forthcoming on Camp John Hay issues as well as payments the government owes to CJHDevCo before the later vacates the property.
At present, CJHDevCo is still waiting for the BCDA before it vacates the property based on the PDRCI ruling, done with finality last year.
Congress will focus on the fate of third party lessees, who have paid for the entire 50-year lease inside the camp.
