THE Provincial Government gave P3 million cash assistance to the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) to help defray expenses for the holding of the festival.
Provincial Treasurer Emmanuel Guial said the financial assistance was released to SFI last December yet, together with the P1.5-million balance of the cash aid for Sinulog 2016.
The amount was charged to the 2016 annual budget of the Province, since the event will take place next week.
“We cannot release the funds if we wait for the 2017 budget. There is not enough time if we process it in 2017,” Guial said.
The Capitol required the SFI to submit a report on how the funds were spent within 60 days from the date of the event.
Sinulog 2017 will be launched on Friday and will culminate with the grand parade on Jan. 15. Dwight Devora, USJR intern
