A LAND reform beneficiary has asked the assistance of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Rafael Mariano for the reestablishment of the road right-of-way so they can have access to their property in Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City.
Ma. Jeanette Salla said in an interview on Monday the Campuestohan Highland Resort management closed the road going to their property.
Salla is one of the 33 beneficiaries of the 66-hectare government property in Barangay Cabatangan distributed through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) in 1998.
She said that when the Tan family expanded in 2014, the Campuestohan Resort, which is adjacent to her two property lots of about 6.7 hectares, the Tans closed the road they used to pass going to their property.
Salla said she is the only Carp beneficiary who refused to sell her land to the Tan family, and that they have been using the road long before the resort was established in 2012.
“I am appealing to Secretary Mariano to help us reestablish the road right-of-way,” Salla added.
Salla said it is very difficult to access her property as they have to pass by the grounds of the resort.
“How can the Tan family purchase the road since it is categorized as “RP” or government land?” she asked.
Salla said that her concern did not get attention from the former DAR secretary.
She added that she has fully paid her property with the Land Bank of the Philippine amounting to P33,748 and was issued a title by the Register of Deeds.
