OFFICER-in-charge of the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO) Merlynn Uy Wednesday, November 23, encouraged alleged victims in the case fixing scandal at the fiscals’ office to lodge complaints at the Ombudsman against erring officials.
Uy said while their fact-finding investigation on the case fixing activity at the fiscals’ office is still on-going, the complainants should also file their complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman.
She said the results of their internal investigation will be submitted to Justice Secretary Aguirre.
Uy said she will uphold the directive of the Department of Justice for zero tolerance on corruption and fast-track their investigation on the alleged case fixing at the fiscals’ office.
Uy said the results of the ongoing investigation against Genard Abejo, a city hall employee detained at the CPO, will be used as evidence in the filing of charges against the suspects in the case fixing controversy.
Abejo was arrested on November 11 after families of individuals with cases pending at the CPO tipped off police regarding Abejo’s supposed bribery and extortion activities.
The 47-year-old Abejo, a resident of Puntod village, was arrested at a convenience store in Barangay Gusa where he was allegedly meeting with some of his supposed victims.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Deputy Regional Director Melgar Devaras earlier said Abejo had implicated three prosecutors in case fixing at the city fiscals office.
