Catriona Gray wins Miss World Philippines

FILIPINO-AUSTRALIAN beauty Catriona Gray was crowned Miss World Philippines 2016 late Sunday evening.

The 22-year-old model/blogger bested 23 other entrants in the competition and will represent the country in the Miss World pageant happening on December 18 in Washington, District of Columbia.

The Bicolana impressed the judges not only by her looks, but also with her wits and charm.

In the final question and answer portion, Gray was asked why she should be hailed as the new Miss World Philippines. She answered:

"To be a Miss World is to passes the torch that burns with passion and purpose. If I am to become Miss World Philippines, I would dedicate my voice and essence to carry that torch and to set charitable causes alike such as my personal advocacy, the Paraiso: Bright Beginnings Project."

"I would focus on passing on this torch to empower others because I believe together, there is no darkness in this world that our light can't overcome."

Aside from the title, Gray also took home a brand new car, a one-year management contract with Viva Artist Agency, Best in Swimsuit and Long Gown trophies, and other special awards.

The 1st Princess was Arienne Calingo, 2nd Princess Ivanna Pacis, 3rd Princess Marah Munoz and 4th Princess Sandra Lemonon.

The pageant was hosted by former Miss World Philippines beauties Gwendolyn Ruais and Queenie Rehman, model Lauren Reid and actor Richard Gutierrez. (Sunnex)
