A 39-year-old woman was caught with P2.7 million worth of shabu in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City last Saturday night.
Ivy Datig was arrested by operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headed by Supt. Fermin Armendarez III during a buy-bust operation at 7:30 p.m.
Datig, who hails from Sitio Kaconsor, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, denied the allegations, saying she was only instructed to bring the bag into the agreed meeting place.
When asked who instructed her to deliver the bag, Datig said that she does not know the face as they only communicated through calls in a cellular phone.
Datig said this was the first time that she delivered shabu.
Confiscated from Datig inside the sling bag she carried were one large pack and two medium-sized packs of shabu.
The package weighed 250 grams.
During the operation, Datig’s companion, a certain Junior Tampus, managed to escape when he sensed the police after he was handed the buy-bust money.
In Barangay Basak, San Nicholas, a level 1, high-value target was arrested by the police yesterday dawn.
Jose Bicbic, 49, yielded four small sachets, a medium pack of alleged shabu and drug proceeds amounting to P2,800.
He will face charges for Sec. 5 Article II of RA 9165, a non-bailable offense.
Six persons were also arrested in Barangay Duljo-Fatima for the violation of Sec. 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They were identified as Ronnie Pitogo, 51, Ruel Abellana, 45, Jonathan Moral, 29, Vincent Cejudo, 25, Christopher Ruben, 43 and Jepoy Caballero, 22.
Various drug paraphernalia were recovered from their possession.
