BACOLOD City Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas said Wednesday they are facilitating the documents to fast track the purchase of a sewer jet for the clearing of drainages in the city.
Parandas said the CDRRMO has only one sewer jet that has malfunctioned.
“We need an additional sewer jet to address the clogging of drainages in various areas,” he said.
The City Government had earlier approved a P21-million fund to acquire a new sewer jet unit.
Parandas said the flood control team is conducting daily cleaning of drainages to lessen the flood-prone areas in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
For 2018, the CDRRMO has a total of P120-million proposed budget.
Parandas said 70 percent of their budget will be used for pre-disaster activities as well as trainings, programs, and projects to mitigate the effects of flooding.
He said the CDRRMO along with the City Planning and Development Office is setting up a community-based monitoring system in various villages to identify the flood-prone areas.
“The identified barangays that would suffer a big effect of flooding will be prioritized for the implementation of next year’s flooding program,” Parandas added.
