CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said the City Government will restore P2 million worth of cash assistance to San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.
Osmeña made the pronouncement Friday, November 17, and apologized to the people of San Francisco.
He revealed that the shortcomings came from the Cebu City Government's end.
He said Nagiel Bañacia, chief of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, failed to make a follow-up on the matter.
Bañacia was sent to Surigao last February by the mayor to conduct post-disaster needs analysis.
San Francisco town mayor Guia Plaza-Sabanal, in a Facebook post Thursday, issued an apology to her townsmate for the supposed aid cancellation.
In the same post, the mayor assured her constituents that they are asking for reconsideration from Osmeña.
Plaza-Sabanal said there was a possible miscommunication since as early as October 5, she sent Osmeña a letter of gratitude for the donation.
As for Ormoc's aid, Osmeña, stood pat that the P10.3 million financial aid for Ormoc City, Leyte, remains canceled. (Rona Joyce Fernandez/VoxPop Cebu)
