CERES Negros FC, now at number four with 29 points in the Philippines Football League, will play on Sunday, September 24, against Global Cebu FC at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Ceres is behind league leader FC Meralco Manila, Kaya FC, and Global Cebu.
VIP tickets for the Ceres-Global match have been completely given out, but grandstand and bleachers areas are free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
On Wednesday, Ceres Negros denied oach Marlon Maro and his Davao Aguilas FC after both settled for a 1-1 draw at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex.
The Busmen kicked off aggressively with numerous chances as Iain Ramsay tried early in the second minute but was blocked by Jason Cordova.
Stephan Schrock broke an offside trap before conquering Davao’s defense and unleashed a shot which was tipped wide.
Ramsay has another chance in the 20th minute but his shot was blocked by Aguilas keeper Marko Trkulja.
It was James Younghusband who broke the deadlock when he scored the host team’s goal in the 27th minute off a free kick from his younger brother Phil.
Ceres FC almost tied the game on Shrock’s denied header as Bienvenido Maranon’s rebound shot went over the bar.
The home team also got few opportunities inside the box but were all well defended as Davao Aguilas took a 1-0 lead at the break.
Ceres Negros started strong in the second half but Maranon and Carli de Murga’s attempts were wiped clean by Davao. It was in the 73rd minute when a cross into the box was redirected into goal by Fernando Rodriguez for the equalizer.
