THE supposed female accomplice of Australian sex offender Peter Gerard Scully had allegedly transported some of Scully’s child victims, City Prosecutor Merlyn Uy said Friday, February 17.
Ma. Dorothea Chia, Scully's co-accused for trafficking children, was arrested Thursday, February 16, however, denied involvement in recruiting minors to be brought to Scully, said Chief Inspector Maricris Mulat, Police Station 1 chief.
"Ingon siya kato daw si Lao mao ang gasakay sa mga bata kay lahi man daw ga-contact unya lahi dayon maghatod. Siya gauban lang ug dihang gituhog-tuhog na kinsa ang mga tawo gahatod maong naapil siya (She said Lao transported the children since their contact person is different from the ones who transported)," Mulat said.
Uy said Chia and her ex-lover, Alexander Lao, who was arrested last year, assisted Scully by transporting the victims to him since before the arrest, the Australian had moved repeatedly to evade authorities.
Lao, who is facing criminal charges with Chia, was earlier arrested in November 11, 2016, at Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental.
"Sila ang gadala sa mga bata like sa Davao ug katong sa Surigao nga eventually napatay. Even wala sila sa act but the child was trafficked man apil sila (They transported the children like the ones in Davao and Surigao, but eventually abused to death. Even though they were not in the act but the child was trafficked, so they are still liable)," Uy said.
"For a time gi-keep nila sa ilang balay like katong namatay nga biktima sa Surigao naghangyo si Scully nga diha sa sa ilang balay ayha gihatod kang Scully (they keep the victim from Surigao since Scully asked them to bring to their house before transferring to him)," Uy added.
Mulat said there were reports that Chia has decided to face the charges and knew that the police had been tracking her whereabouts.
Mulat added they keep on going back to a call center company in the city where Chia is presently working.
The arrest warrants was issued by different courts October last year, and since then, the police have been exerting efforts to serve the court order.
Through information from tipsters, Chia no longer resisted arrest when the police arrived at her residence.
Mulat said Chia belonged to an average family and may have been influenced by her former live-in partner.
Mulat added that Lao was also likely involved in illegal drug activities.
Mulat said Chia has no more contacts and information about the other respondents of the case that remained in hiding.
"Ingon siya ang uban iyang nailhan while ang uban sa nawong lang niya naila (She said he knows some but the rest are only by facial recognition)," Mulat added.
