A SPACE along R.T. Lim commonly known as the “Cawa-Cawa Boulevard” has been allocated for the arriving traveling merchants for the duration of the 2017 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
City Permits and Licensing Division Chief Benjie Barredo said they will only accommodate 70 traveling merchants as the allocated space could only accommodate such number of stalls.
Barredo said the City Engineer’s Office will construct the temporary stalls where the traveling merchants can sell their products to the visitors and residents of this city.
Barredo added that so far more than 100 traveling merchants applied for special business permit. A P10,000 payment will be collected from them that include electricity, water and garbage fees.
Traveling merchants from Luzon, Visayas, and other parts of Mindanao usually come to Zamboanga City during the Hermosa Festival celebration to sell souvenir and household products as well as dry goods.
They usually start business from September 30 until October 31.
The Hermosa Festival kicks-off October 1 and its highlight is the feast day on October 12 of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered saint of the city. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
