THE Bacolod City Council has approved the fixed burial assistance for those in need.
Members of the council approved on third and final reading an ordinance amending Sections 9 and 12 of City Ordinance 384 to increase the burial assistance from P1,500 to P3,500.
The ordinance, authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., stated that the beneficiary whose application has been duly approved can avail the burial assistance program in the amount of P3,500.
In the previous years, many are saying that some were given P3,000 to 4,000 and some more than P5,000, e said.
He said it was agreed that the financial assistance should be fixed at P3,500 to be fair for everybody.
The ordinance stated that the local government is hereby mandated to set aside a fund of at least P7 million annually to be taken from the General Fund. (MAP)
