BACOLOD City Executive Assistant Celestino Guara said Tuesday, October 24, the personnel of Public Order and Safety Office (Poso) who was arrested for illegal possession of firearms was automatically terminated as casual employee.

Guara, cluster head on peace and order and police matters, said Edimer Villa, 30, of Barangay Taculing was arrested at the public plaza Sunday.

Police recovered from Villa's possession a magnum.22 caliber with five live ammunitions.

Villa, a job order casual, was assigned at Poso for almost a year and detailed at the City Health Office.

Guara said Villa was about to enter the public plaza during the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte when policemen found a firearm inside his bag.

“It was a normal procedure of policemen to frisk him and we are implementing the gun ban for the MassKara Festival,” he said.

Guara said the Poso guards are not allowed to carry firearms.

Villa is detained at Police Station 1 and is facing charges.
