THE Cebu City Government is expected to earn P2.6 million from the holding of this year’s Kasadya sa SRP (South Road Properties).
The annual carnival, which run from December this year to February next year, was bidded out by the City.
City Administrator Veronica Morelos, vice chairperson for the bids and awards committee (BAC) for goods, said she was instructed by Mayor Tomas Osmeña to bid out the event to those who are capable of putting up a carnival.
She said this is the first time that Kasadya sa SRP underwent the bidding process.
“There were originally three operators who expressed interest to join the public bidding but due to time constraint, only one pursued,” she said.
At present, Morelos said BAC is post-evaluating the proposal of Three Z Carnival, which is based in Zamboanga City.
Some of the considerations, which will be taken by them, she said, will be the documents they submitted, their track record and how they will ensure the safety and security of the public.
Morelos said the City is guaranteed to earn P2.6 million for the whole duration of the activity since the contract provides that the winning bidder will pay an amusement tax amounting to P2 million.
The lone bidder, however, said they are willing to pay P2.6 million.
The amount doesn’t include yet the revenues that will be generated by the City from the rides.
The City Treasurer’s Office will collect a fee amounting to P20 to P50 a day for it, depending on its type.
Morelos assured that there will be no major changes for this year’s activity.
The City will also not be disbursing any funds for it.
The Kasadya sa SRP, which started during the time of former mayor Michael Rama, is held at the vacant property near the Sugbo Building.
