BACOLOD City Administrator John Orola said the current administration intends to put order at the Central Market as part of the efforts to make Bacolod a livable city.
Orola said he will hold a meeting with the vendors association on Tuesday.
“I will find out about the legitimacy of the vendors in the area and the status of these holders so that we would know and determine our plans for them,” he added.
Orola also said that they are also looking at including Masamart in Bonifacio Street as well as the “ukay-ukays” and other vendors residing in the market.
“We would like to put order in the area,” he said.
Orola added that the next target is the area where the fish vendors are located especially those surrounding the Central Market.
“We will put all of them inside the market and not just anywhere that they want to,” he further said.
Meanwhile, Orola said he is also meeting Tuesday with the homeowners association officers and purok presidents of Progreso 1 and 2 at the
Abada-Escay and Arao relocation site.
They need to find out the total occupants in the area because the city is in the planning stage of relocating some informal settlers to take them out of danger zones, he added.
“So we have to assure first that there will be places to accommodate them,” Orola said. (TDE)
