BACOLOD City Legal Office (CLO) head Joselito Bayatan said yesterday they are awaiting the reinstatement order of the 10 employees for the city government to release their back wages.
Bayatan said the city government is obliged to pay them.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Regional Office 6 had earlier ordered the reinstatement of 10 out of the 66 employees whose appointments were revoked by former Mayor Monico Puentevella.
These include Wilma Salinas, Jan Michael Vincent Petierre, Angel Barrientos Jr., Nelia Sedillo, Michael Arboleda, Robert Toledo, Adelino Untal Jr., Mark Oliver Binguan, Daniel Medecielo, and Hannibal Varca.
The CSC-6 directed Mayor Evelio Leonardia to reinstate the 10
employees to their respective positions with payment of back salaries and benefits due them from the time they were not allowed to work until their actual reinstatement.
Bayatan said they will be paid of their withheld salary from the time they were not allowed to report for duty.
Of the 66 employees, the 10 were the first to file a complaint against Puentevella last March asking the CSC to declare his order illegal, null and void and to reinstate them to their respective positions and to validate their appointments by then acting Mayor Greg Gasataya as well as grant payment of their back wages from the time they assumed their positions.
Bayatan said when Gasataya assumed the office, his position also includes the power to hire and terminate employees since the former mayor was suspended for 90 days.
