THE Games and Amusements Board (GAB) recently released the names of their partner-hospitals in the Visayas, including the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City and Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
The partnerships aim to provide free medical check-up, including CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans for GAB-licensed boxers and fighters.
This is the result of the discussion between GAB and the Department of Health, following the previous incidents concerning hundred of pro-boxers and fighters submitting alleged fake medical records to the commission.
GAB Chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra said it is the agency’s mandate to ensure the safety of the pro-boxers by minimizing or eliminating the risks of suffering serious injuries and even deaths.
To avail these free medical services, boxers should get an endorsement from any GAB offices. (HGD)
