THE City Government of Bacolod postponed the closure of Vendors’ Plaza in Barangay 12 for repair and rehabilitation after some of the occupants sought a dialogue with the city officials.
City Administrator John Orola said on Friday, September 15, that they will hold a meeting Saturday with some of the occupants at the Bacolod Government Center.
He said the city will close the building for the general cleaning and removal of illegal structures inside the facility.
The Vendors’ Plaza has more than 50 occupants who had earlier received closure notices.
“We will listen to them because they are the people of Bacolod. The closure was cancelled yesterday,” Orola said.
He said some of the occupants are using the market facility as a “boarding house” which is illegal.
“We will regulate them and we will distribute the stalls to those who are willing to do business inside the facility,” Orola added.
Orola noted that he received a letter from a group in Bacolod who are opposing to remove the vendors.
“Anybody can join the dialogue as long you are a resident of the city,” he added.
