HAVING produced two world mixed martial arts champion under his watch, Coach Mark Sangiao believes winning a title in Asia’s largest MMA promotions means more hard work, patience and perseverance.
Based on his personal perspective, Sangiao said the upcoming middleweight world championship match between reigning titlist Vitaly Bigdash and Aung La N Sang on June 30 will be a battle of will and wits.
“From my personal perspective, I would say that Aung La N Sang was not content with his performance during their first match, considering he was notified about it just two weeks before. But this time, he has been given a second chance to prove that he is a worthy title contender, Sangiao said of the famed Baguio – Benguet based Team Lakay as quoted in the One Championship website.
Sangiao added as a martial artist, he knows for a fact that sufficient preparation and training, both physically and mentally, is very essential.
“I expect an action-filled performance this time. If Aung La N Sang can compensate for the power and conditioning of Bigdash, he has a big chance to own the world title,” added Sangiao.
The multi–titled wushu fighter turned coach said if Bigdash is able to overpower N Sang and maintain his conditioning, he will keep the title owing to the fact Bigdash has good striking skills.
“The Yangon crowd is of course Aung La N Sang’s crowd, so this will be a big help to boost Aung La N Sang’s morale and confidence,” Sangiao remarked.
Bigdash and N Sang clash for the second time on June 30 at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium for the ONE: Light of a Nation.
With the fight going Bigdash way after the Burmese fighter was given a short notice to fight the defending champion, ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said the bout was an absolute showcase of incredible skill and unwavering determination, and the rematch promises nothing short of another classic.
