HORRIBLE. The feeling I get when I crave for "lutong-bahay" (homemade) food but I happen to be at the mall, because, who serves this in malls, right? One may get plenty of food there but they will mostly be from fast food chains.
I'm not against fast food restos. There are just those times where your taste buds seem to have too much of them and you will then long for food that taste “real.” And when I said that, I meant those that taste like your mom's or dad's simple yet delicious dish served at home.
I was lucky since I found a place at a mall where I can truly enjoy Filipino comfort food at a cheap price, particularly in Gmall Davao. It is called “Binalot” and it is situated at the ground floor of the mall. It's not the classy type of resto where you can eat Filipino food served with a twist and with a touch of something foreign. It’s just mere Filipino comfort food that you can savor inch by inch.
So what’s with the name Binalot? You might ask. It is so-named because the meals they served are “nakabalot” or wrapped in banana leaf. That exempts soup dishes like their Pork Sinigang (My favorite!) though.
Among the enticing comfort food that are served there, which you are most likely to miss or crave for, are Ensaladang Talong, Talongna may Bagoong, Paksiwna Tilapia, Bihon, Adobo, and Sisig, among others.
So when you happen to be at Gmall and you craved for these types of food then you know where to go.
