COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said the postponement of the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections would mean a waste of government funds.
The commission has already concluded the bidding of supplies for the May 14 polls, she said.
She said the Congress must hasten their process as they are already running out of time since there is no counterpart bill in the Senate that seeks for the postponement of the said election.
"Congress can reset the polls again, that is their prerogative. I don't know if that will prosper as there is no counterpart bill in the Senate, maybe that is too late already,” she said.
“I just hope that if they pass a law resetting it, it should be done before April 1. That will give us a month and two weeks to stop everything,” she added.
On Monday, the House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms approved the separate versions of the proposed bills for the postponement of the elections, moving it from May 14 to October 8.
