THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting Mayor Evelio Leonardia to convene the special committee for the Manokan Country Inasal Festival.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Bartolome Orola, chairperson of committee on market, stated that the Manokan Country has become one of the major centers of the city tourism areas where the display of the real Ilonggo taste is one of the manifestations of Bacoleños true identity.
City Ordinance No. 482, Series of 2009, known as the “Manokan Country Inasal Festival in the City of Bacolod,” Section 3 thereof stated that a special committee shall be created by the mayor through an executive order and has the composition of the city mayor as chairman, chairperson of City Council committee on tourism and public markets as co-chairmen, among others.
Section 4 stated that the special committee’s obligations and responsibilities, which among others, to convene among themselves at least twice a month, from every January of each succeeding year to plan, establish the needed mechanism including the actual date of the festival, but the duration of the festival date shall not exceed in five days.
Orola said the continuation of the Manokan Country Inasal Festival would further enhance the reputation of Bacolod as the famous place of the iconic and original Bacolod chicken inasal, that is well-known locally and internationally.
