INVESTIGATORS on the Rotoras murder case are now looking into the possible connection of arrested architect Rey Galua to the alleged gunman Johnreal Abel Gumanay.
Zarah Lynn Rotoras, wife of slain University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) president Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, filed murder charges against Gumanay last February 2 before the City Prosecutor's Office.
Gumanay, who is known by the aliases "JanJan," "JunJun," "Alejandro Ceniza," and "Jun Putot," was arrested in Makati City for another murder case early last month.
On the other hand, Galua was tagged by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) as person of interest in the killing of Rotoras. He was, however, arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cagayan de Oro City (CIDG-CDOC) for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
"Ang question mark karon mao ang connection ni Galua ug Gumanay. Mao ni ang gitrabaho karon," a source who requested anonymity said.
The source said the suspect will also be pressed to speak and reveal the identity of his companion and the master mind behind the killing.
Investigators will also look into the firearms of the suspect.
"Sa karon, nangita pa og dugang witnesses and evidences. I-apil og check iyang armas," the source said.
The source said the investigation is already about 70 percent, close to solving the case and bringing justice to the untimely death of the state-owned university president.
