WITH their No.1 supporter consistently watching over, the Corpus Christi dribblers finished with two titles to celebrate in the 11th Loyola Cup Inter-School basketball on Saturday at the Xavier University gym here.
The Corpus Christi Knights of coach Carlomagno Dagalea defeated new rival Bukidnon Faith Christian School of Valencia City in both the 11-under and 15-under boys’ finals.
The Junior Knights completed a grand slam in 15U after beating Bukidnon Faith, 65-58 as the Little CCS Knights picked their first ever gem in 11-under level at the expense of the same school from the land-locked province of Bukidnon.
And no one could be more happier from the audience’s bleacher than Corpus Christi sports director Dr. Alfonso del Fierro.
“We’re all but just ordinary people and sports is the best medicine to get away from stress. Of course, malingaw ko sa Loyola Cup kay involved among team we have all the reasons to cheer along with the crowd,” said del Fierro, who also witnessed the Loyola Cup volleyball championships, still in progress, as of this writing.
Host Xavier University of coach Mariano Velez was unstoppable, however, in the 13-under finals, besting Corpus Christi by 46 points, 106-57 on Sunday morning.
