Council authorizes Davao mayor to sign pact with DSWD

THE Davao City Council has authorized Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA), on behalf of the Davao City Government, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in implementing the comprehensive program for people living on the streets.

Councilors passed last week on third and final reading an ordinance granting legislative authority to the city mayor to enter into a MOA between the DSWD and the City Government over the implementation of the comprehensive program for street children, street family, and Indigenous People, especially the Sama-Bajau.

Based on the memo, the comprehensive program refers to the projects, programs, and activities that will be implemented for the concerned people in critical areas in Davao City.

The parties, shall at all times, take all necessary action to cooperate with each other, perform the respective duties and assume their respective responsibilities in order to achieve the overall objective of the program intended for children, families and Indigenous People on the streets.

In the ordinance passed by the council, it was stated that the city mayor shall represent the city in all its business transactions and sign on its behalf, all bonds, contracts, and obligations, and such other documents as authorized by the Provincial Board or pursuant to law or ordinance.
