THE Bacolod City Council will hold a special session Tuesday, August 30, to deliberate the contract with new garbage hauler IPM Construction and Development Corporation.
The IPM CDC, whose headquarters and sites are based in Metro Manila, passed the post-qualification evaluation for its bid for the P59.443-million trash collection contract of Bacolod last week.
The special session was requested by Mayor Evelio Leonardia for the City Council to act on the new garbage hauling deal since the contract of the Dynamic Builders and Construction Co. (Phil.) will already expire on September 2.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of committee on laws, said they will decide whether to grant the mayor the authority to sign the contract with IPM CDC.
The contract involves the collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage, and solid waste management (SWM) services.
“We need to act on this because the contract of the Dynamic Builders is set to expire, and we need a replacement to collect the garbage in the city,” Distrito said.
The Department of Public Services (DPS) earlier appealed to Dynamic Builders to continue their garbage collection until the expiration of their contract on September 2.
DPS head Nelson Sedillo said several residents from various barangays complained of uncollected garbage.
He said out of 165 trips a day, the Dynamic Builders had only been completing 65 trips a day.
The City Government is paying more than P30 million a month to Dynamic Builders, which includes the sanitary landfill maintenance.
Dynamic Builders collects garbage at P800 per cubic meter which they haul to the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.
