DAVAO City Councilor Victorio Advincula seeks to add more requirements from housing construction applicants to ensure that there will be water in their areas.
Advincula, sub-committee on housing chair, on March 28, said they seek to require certification from Davao City Water District (DCWD) from the housing developers other than the clearance.
“We just had a new ruling housing committee, it is a pending rule now that before we issue clearance to the subdivision developer they must secure an undertaking from the DCWD that they can supply water, because the certification alone seemed to have no legal bearing,” Advincula said.
He said the council is fed up by issues of water shortage in areas where the DCWD has issued water clearances.
Advincula added they are also planning to bring up the issue of buffer of water supply from the DCWD.
Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang passed on suspended rules a resolution favorably endorsing to the DCWD to tap Dumoy Water System for the use of residents of Cabantian, the area in Davao city where shortage of water supply burden many consumers.
