THE City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) expressed its optimism to resolve charges filed against the identified perpetrators of the Roxas Night Market bombing last September 2, 2016 in two weeks' time.
Prosecutor Jay Karel Sanchez said in a media interview on Monday that a panel of four prosecutors frequently meet for the quick resolution of the case.
"The panel of prosecutors, we have been meeting and have been conducting preliminary investigation, that is why I am pretty confident that even prior to October 16 the resolution will be issued," Sanchez said.
Sanchez said the panel was already created in anticipation of the filing of the case last September 16 and was spearheaded by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) that was created after the blast.
Sanchez added that Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre issued a department order to City Prosecutor Nestor Ledesma, Regional Prosecutor Janet Grace Fabrero, and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to ensure the speedy disposition of case against suspects of the blast that killed 16 people and injured 69 others.
In return, Regional Prosecutor Fabrero ordered Prosecutor Ledesma to form the panel for the preliminary investigation who are now resolving the complaints filed against the identified prime suspect, five John Does and three Jane Does.
