BROOKLYN Nets late comeback fell short as they fall to the Golden State Warriors 118-111 on Monday (Philippine time).
The Warriors took an early control of the game in the first quarter with the score 32-20 despite the absence of one of their All Star Players and former league most valuable player, Kevin Durant, due to a left ankle sprain.
It seemed smooth sailing for the Warriors as they led by a wide margin of 28 points early in the third quarter. This is where Brooklyn fought back and outscored Golden State 42-34.
The Nets continued to complete a comeback at the start of the fourth quarter as they narrowed the lead to at least four points with the score 103-107, taking advantage of Curry fouling out.
But Golden State stayed composed. Shaun Livingston scored two points on his dunk followed by a three-pointer from Klay Thompson to extend the lead and eventually, seal the win.
Stephen Curry fouled out of the game late in the fourth quarter with 39 points shooting 58 percent, seven assists and 11 rebounds in just 32 minutes of play. Thompson provided offense with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Dreymond Green with just five points but was able to dish eight assists.
Brooklyn's Allen Crabbe and Spencer Dinwiddie spearheaded the short comeback with Crabbe scoring 25 points and made six of his 11 shots from the three points and Dinwiddie with 21 and eight assists in the lost. (Frankl Glarino, USC AB Communications intern)
