THE past week has been quite challenging mainly because I was in a lot of pain most days. It felt like hell experiencing escalate as each day passed.
By the third day, I had become really cranky. Even when I try to be pleasant I would say things in a loud, seemingly irritated voice you probably can hear clearly across the room. I swear to God, I will snap at you or worse, bite your head off if you make a mistake of annoying me. No nice girl here.
The pain crept like thief in the night. I thought it was my usual pre-menstrual pain. On the first day, I really did not pay much attention to it. I figured it would just go away. But it didn’t. The pain gradually increased, getting in the way of my usual activities. It had become so difficult that everyday tasks that are usually no-brainers have suddenly become things that require much focus! They had become harder to do! A lot of concentration was needed just to finish simple tasks.
Before I knew it, I found myself going back and forth the laboratory. I had three blood extractions for various blood tests needed to be done. I also had to use painkillers to control the pain because you get tired dealing with it and you don’t want to deal with it anymore.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve experienced constant, dull and numbing pain. It’s really irritating and alarming. I am not used to feeling all this pain although I am no stranger to it. I have endured degrees of pain I never knew existed! It really is a test of endurance and patience.
Sometimes we do not realize how much we can endure. Friends and family may think us crazy (or even stupid) for fighting the good fight, for not taking the pill that would make it go away which would make life easier.
We all have our reasons for enduring certain things. Our power to focus on certain tasks that need to be done enhances our ability to endure challenges that come our way. When we endure things, we learn a little bit about humility, realizing how our concerns do not always affect other people the same way.
Sometimes it can make us feel so alone, like the world had gone on without us. But you see, that’s how life can be. It is not all sunny and bright flowers. There are moments when we feel the burden of feeling sad and alone. Learning to endure it and find something in it that will make us hang on longer allows us to be brave enough to face it.
In the middle of all the pain and hurt, we begin to feel down and doubt ourselves and our capabilities. There are moments when we simply want to give up. It is understandable to feel this way because we can only take so much and when things that we simply cannot control happens, we wonder how we could possibly find ourselves out of the situation.
We need patience and faith that things will be okay. We need to not overthink the situation because it would only make us suffer more. Over Analyzing any situation can cause so much unwanted stress. We end up carrying the burden of a problem that does not exist yet.
We really need to be nicer to ourselves. When we feel physical pain, we need to listen to our bodies and do what needs to be done properly. We need to treat our bodies right and respect it.
As we grow old, our bodies will show the wear and tear of aging so we all should make the effort of ensuring that it does not age beyond our years. Enduring pain can be good for us. It will teach us about things that can help us feel better. It will help us identify clues that we need to remember so that when it happens again, we’ll know what to do.
Emotional pain can be a lot tougher to deal with because it plays with our emotions. Sometimes we become filled with doubt and disillusionment. There are people who go into fits of depression and never come out of it.
We really need to learn how to deal with the heartbreak and anguish that can come with it. We have to be patient and assure ourselves that things will get better, we just have to take things one step at a time. As for those that we cannot control and prevent from happening, we just have to accept it as such and hope for the best while doing the best that we can to ease the burden that it brings.
Dealing with pain has taught me to accept it while doing something to ease it. When certain situations that cannot be helped occur, I adjust and focus more on things that can make me feel more encouraged. When things like these happen, we just need to be stronger and have the courage to face it. Yes fear can take the better of us but if we learn to accept things and try to make the best out of the situation. Try to look at things from the bright side, it will make you feel better.
Happy Sunday! :)
